Residents of the 28th District representing Wethersfield chose to stick with incumbent Russell Morin, who just completed his first term at the state Capitol, when they went to the polls Tuesday. The Democrat defeated Republican challenger John Cusano in a 7,713 to 4,306 vote.

Though he prevailed by 16 percentage points, incumbent state Sen. Paul Doyle's victory in the 9th district race was anything but a fait accompli.

Fire­fighters from two towns responded to a fully engulfed barn fire Monday that seriously burned the owner of the property and destroyed the barn, which was used for farm animals and hay, fire officials said.

An informational meeting held by the redevelopment agency concerning the Nov. 6 bond enabling referendum briefly turned contentious on Tuesday evening, with an exchange nearly leading to the expulsion of a resident from the Police Department's community room.

The Town Council at a special meeting on Oct. 25 voted unanimously to approve the town's $310,000 purchase of a 4.96 acre vacant parcel of land owned by the YMCA of Greater Hartford.
